President's Letters

April 28, 2020

Dear Members:

We have been informed that New York State has issued a further clarification to the Executive Orders that apply to the Country Club of Buffalo. While we remain a non-essential business and we cannot have employees working on premise, we believe the clarification received today permits members access to the course so long as there are no gatherings of any kind and appropriate social distancing of six feet or more between all individuals is strictly abided at all times that any individual is on Club property.

Therefore, we advise you of the following (updated 4/27/20):

  • Members may access the golf course.  We will be using a modified tee time system that we currently use for weekdays, Father's Day and July 4th. See links below.  This system will minimize the risk of gatherings of any kind prior to a member's round.
  • The short game area will be open, no golf balls provided.
  • Members may not play in groups of more than 4. Groups with less than 4 players are encouraged.
  • Members must carry their own golf bags and handle all aspects of play on their own.  Club-issued push carts will not be available. You may use your personal push cart until further notice.
  • Members may not “skip” around the golf course – all play must begin on the First Tee and all play must proceed in a normal manner around the golf course.
  • No guests are allowedwith the exception of family guests. A family guest has access to the golf course after 12pm on Saturday and Sunday; and only one family guest between 11am and 12:45pm weekdays. Our priority remains member access and, with this in mind, family guest access may be subject to change.
  • Members must follow and comply with all social distancing and other guidelines announced by public health authorities.
  • Members electing to access the golf course do so by the exercise of their own judgment and members assume all risks related to or resulting from the same.
  • Members must use the main parking lot only and are not allowed use of the employee areas in and around the Pro Shop – this area is needed exclusively for the Food On the Go service.
  • Members are not to gather, linger or remain in or around the Club. Once access to the golf course is finished, Members must immediately leave the Club.  No gatherings of any kind are permitted after the round.
  • Grounds personnel and staff that may be maintaining the golf course have priority over Member play.

All members will be required to strictly follow and comply with the above policies and rules, and with any additional policies or rules that may be adopted. Due to the concerns for the safety, health and wellbeing of our members and the grounds staff, in the event of non-compliance by any member, it may be necessary to reverse the permitted access to the golf course.

Please understand that this situation remains fluid and can change at any time. We will provide updates as they become available.

With opening day this weekend, it has become necessary to cancel our annual rite of spring passage.  Our Golf Committee continues to discuss all options and we will communicate potential modified member events.

Until the next update letter, please remain safe, healthy and well.

Sincerely,

Robert C. Walter

President

Dear Members:

We have been informed that New York State has issued a further clarification to the Executive Orders that apply to the Country Club of Buffalo. Therefore, we advise you of the following:

  • Members may access the golf course only.
  • Members may not play in groups of more than 4. Groups with less than 4 players are encouraged.
  • Members must carry their own golf bags and handle all aspects of play on their own.
  • Members may not “skip” around the golf course – all play must begin on the First Tee and all play must proceed in a normal manner around the golf course.
  • No guests are allowed, as access to the golf course is strictly limited to members only.

If your golf clubs are in storage at the Club, please contact Will Norem. He will make arrangements to have your golf clubs waiting for you at the Bag Drop for your first visit. Please be advised that bag storage and all other golf operations remain closed in accordance with the Executive Orders, as clarified today.

Along with the Food To Go, we hope that the limited access to the golf course under the recent clarification is one more way in which we can all enjoy the spirit of our beloved Club, and that it is one step closer to the beginning of the end of the many consequences of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Until the next update letter, please remain safe, healthy and well.

Sincerely,

Robert C. Walter

President
