After lengthy discussions involving the officers and executive management of the Club and then with thoughtful consideration by the Board, the difficult decision was made to indefinitely close the Club and all of its services and facilities.
During the time that the Club will remain closed, the Board has finalized plans that will continue essential administrative services and the security and maintenance of the Club, its buildings and properties. The plans call for limited employees working at the Club under safe conditions consistent with guidelines from the Center for Disease Control, the New York State Department of Health and from the County of Erie, or remotely, as feasible or as may be required by governmental action.
Of the many decisions we faced, one was simple, the decision to pay our valued employees. All impacted employees will be paid in the normal course and on an uninterrupted basis until such time the Board determines that a modification or discontinuance becomes necessary. We will also recognize the dedication of the limited employees that are working to maintain and preserve our Club until we return.
On behalf of the Board, we thank the executive management team and all of our loyal employees for their dedication to the Club and its membership. Our hope is the Country Club of Buffalo is a great place to work in the “good” times and for it to be the only place to work in the “hard” times.
The Board is aware that other clubs may be attempting to provide its members with a limited level of services or access to the club, but the prudent decisions made by the Board are out of an abundance of caution for the safety and health and concern for our members and our employees.
Recognizing that members may need to retrieve personal belongings that may be at the Club, the locker room will be open tomorrow, March 20, 2020 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. If additional time is needed or if you need personal belongings that may not be in the locker room, please contact the Club and we will make every effort to accommodate the retrieval of such items of your personal property.
We extend our thanks and appreciation to each of the Department of Heads. Their insight, judgment and expertise has been valued and essential as the Club navigates the ever changing effects and consequences related to the COVID 19 pandemic. We will continuously discuss what elements of our member experience we can safely provide.
Since its founding in 1889, the Country Club of Buffalo has faced and overcome many challenges and events outside of its control, and we know our Club will meet the current challenges in a strong and enduring manner.
This confidence is rooted in our tradition. A tradition of member support and the dedication of our valued employees.
Our best wishes for good health and safety are with you, your families and your loved ones, and we hope that we will all be able to resume social normalcy and the camaraderie of membership at the Club very soon.
